TRIGG MORRIS

We gave our first public show in July 1971. Our costume reflects our rural background, and our green baldrics are decorated with Celtic designs that are found on the Ancient Stone Crosses located around the County. The side's title comes from "The Hundred of Trigg", an old administrative area of Mid Cornwall, and most of our members live within reasonably easy reach of Bodmin, (from Plymouth to Newquay!). We perform dances of the "Cotswold" style, mainly in the traditions of Fieldtown, Bucknell, Lichfield & Stanton Harcourt with sticks or wavers (handkerchiefs). The Stanton Harcourt dances sometimes require both sticks & wavers. Until recently we have maintained an ethos of men-only dancing, but with general social changes, and a change in the view of our national association, The Morris Ring, membership is now open to all, so, think about coming to meet us. We mainly dance on Thursdays, it has worked for all these years so it has proved popular & will continue, (until we change our minds!).
